Intensive pig farming practices are mostly standardised across the world and South Africa is no exception. Inquisitive and intelligent pigs are forced to endure a life time of suffering which ends brutally at the abattoir. Abattoir lines go so fast that there are often mistakes in the production line. Many pigs end up in scalding tank still alive after botched stunning and throut slitting.
